Servicing A Rolex Explorer II: Reference 1655

The Rolex Explorer II 1655 is one of my favourite vintage Rolex watches. It has such character and is rarely seen in comparison to GMT and Submariner models. This particular one had a scratched up crystal which was polished to remove most of the well earned scratches. The bezel and case were kept entirely original, of course. There was a lot of grime on the case and it needed a thorough cleaning. The movement had several adjustments made during service, mostly end-shakes that were too sloppy. The hands were stabilized so as to preserve the original lume (this is something we do as standard in our workshop, unless directed otherwise). With all this work being completed, it was up and running within COSC specs again and the watch was made water resistant once again.
